i was initially suspicious of the R K*lly documentary but it actually has done a VERY effective job of shedding light on the stories of the black girls & black women who were made victims in this situation AND of holding r k*lly accountable for his unfathomable crimes AND of calling for justice and support for his victims
it’s quite interesting that Lifetime are the ones who felt compelled to do this and NOT ~Black Entertainment Television~ nor Centric/BET Her, a channel that brands itself entirely on catering to black women :-)
But seriously. People were just on tour with R Kelly. I remember Tamar Braxton, I believe June’s Diary, and more artists whose name I forget but I HIGHLY encourage anyone who knows to reply with the names of the remaining artists from that 2017 tour. Jay Z was going to go to tour with him even in 2004, but canceled that which is good but why the fuck did he or his people ever.
Influencers were just on their platforms - like The Friendzone with Dustin Ross, HeyAssante, and HeyFranHey - telling people to not cancel artists for bringing their audiences (young and old) to R. Kelly concerts bc the artists have people to feed and dreams to chase. At the expense of girls being handselected for his sex cult.
I just… even black people that will talk the wokest, high vibrational, shea butter bullshit were QUICK to become or excuse pedophile enablers. And that shit is OVER. ITS DONE. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR MONEY OVER THE SAFETY OF BLACK GIRLS AND THE COMPANY OF PEDOPHILES?🎤🎤🎤🎤
Actually he said this was taken out of context. They amended the article to show his full unabbreviated interview and quotes.
And it’s even worse!
i think I understand what he’s saying (that back then he was in the mindset of not valuing the stories of black women, though now he realizes bw are exponentially more oppressed and violated than anyone in the world)…
if so, im glad his mindset has evolved, but somehow it’s just… not enough. idk how to explain it but it just feels like a worthless consolation prize after all the abuse has already transpired
Me: black men have it rough too so whats the point in saying niggas aint shit just because of your own personal experiences, especially because you prohibit black men from doing the same knowing that it’s wrong.
You tell us not to project bitterness yet some of you do it yourselves
If a black man aint doin shit he doesnt need to hear “niggas aint shit” society says that everyday.
Ya’ll: these niggas stay making excuses.
There’s an awful amount of black women having the exact same experiences for it to just be a projection of personal issues.
Niggas ain’t shit is the equivalent to men are trash. Few people actually believe that all black men are shit but black men do have an abundance of male privilege that they use against black women and most refuse to even acknowledge that fact.
As far us “not allowing black men to do the same” what on earth do you mean? Black men are some of the most violent perpetrators of anti blackness and misogynior on the planet. They are a huge part of the reason black women remain the most marginalized group in the world. So if I live in a world where black men help perpetuate the oppression of black Woman I have no qualms about saying “niggas ain’t shit”
Black women saying “niggas ain’t shit” is the same thing as saying “I hate white people” in terms of severity. Black women don’t have structural power the way black men do within the black community where as black men saying “black women ain’t shit” is a much more severe statement because that sentiment is structurally embedded within the black community by black men.
So while black men may have the “niggas ain’t shit” issue outside of the black community so do black women. So they don’t get some special pass for that when they turn and structurally oppress black women.
Doubly so when you factor in that most black women actually want to be with a black man which makes the struggle with them worse.
For some reason it’s always a competition
..okay i think niggas just honestly can’t read. like, legit never learned how. that’s the only explanation at this point
